Hi! My name is LilyBug. It’s short for Lily LoveBug.
I love my name. It makes me feel special and loved. Just like the Angels said would happen.
You see, the Angels have been whispering to me ever since the day I was left on the side of the road.
I was so scared that day! The Angels told me not to worry – they said it was okay to be scared. They said that I could be scared and brave at the same time!
They even told me that one day I’d be happy and loved – and be able to tell my story. And look, I am!

When I was born, I had four brothers and sisters. There were five of us plus my Mom. We all lived together with a family of people.
We spent our first year playing with each other and with Mom. I don’t remember a lot about that year, except that we were together all the time and Mom took good care of us.
But as we grew bigger, I guess I wasn’t as pretty as my brothers and sisters – they were all extra fluffy. But I wasn’t.
One day the people put me in their yellow truck and drove out to the country. I was really scared in the truck all by myself – and super scared when they stopped. That's when they put me out on the side of the road and drove away.
I guess people put you out like that when they don’t want you anymore. They don’t think about how very scared you are. People just don’t know what to do sometimes and they can be cruel.

But that’s when the Angels came to talk to me.
Not to worry, the Angels said. It would all be okay. I just needed to be really brave – even though I was really scared. They said if I could be both brave and scared together I could find my true home and be loved – and they were right!
I did my very best to be brave as I wandered and searched for a home. Was it this one? No. Maybe this place? No. Then one day I came upon a place that felt safe and nice. The garage was open, so I went inside and hid.
When Cris came into the garage that day, I did my best to be really brave – just like the Angels said.
I crawled out from behind a box and meowed. I was so scared and hungry that I could hardly look her in the eye. But I could look up, close my eyes, and then look again.
Cris knew I was hungry and scared. I could tell she understood – and I started to feel safe. She put some food out for me and placed a little bed under the barbecue.
I liked it under the barbecue so I stayed there and rested up. Every day, Cris brought me more food and water. She had a soft voice and soft energy. I felt a little bit safer each day.

After I had gained some weight and gotten more relaxed, I needed to go to the vet hospital for an operation. My leg got hurt while I was looking for a safe place and it wasn’t working right.
At the hospital, I had to be extra brave. I’m not sure exactly what they did there. I got so sleepy that I drifted off. That's when I got to have a nice visit with the Angels again. They told me I didn’t have to know what the doctor was doing – I just had to trust and it would all be okay.
When I woke up the next day, Cris came to get me and brought me back home. It felt so nice to know I'd found a real home - a home where I was loved and cared for. And you know what? With good food and lots of love, I became extra fluffy after all!!
So that's my story! I'm so happy to be able to share it with you. And here's a few secrets that I hope you will always remember....

Please know that whoever you are is good enough. You don’t have to be extra fluffy or anything.

There’s always someone there to love you just the way you are. And if you have differences, it’s okay, because those differences just make you even more lovable and special.

Oh and one more important thing - Know that the Angels are always watching over you and guiding you – even if you don’t know they are there – they are.
Listen with your heart – and it will whisper back.
